Checked 16 October 2026. These are checks for errors reported on Steam on 13–14 October. We have not reproduced them or verified a universal fix. A new registration rejecting an unused address is not proof that someone else owns your account.
Which CPM 2 login error do you see?
| Message or symptom | What to check next | Evidence |
|---|---|---|
| This email is already taken | Are you signing in to an existing profile, or registering a new one? Recover a profile you recognize; do not keep creating replacements for progress you want to retain. | Two different Steam threads report the message, including an address described as unused.[1][2] |
| No account linked to your Steam profile was found | Check the CPM 2 account you intended to link. This message and email-registration failure appeared together in one report. | No confirmed resolution in the 14 October thread.[2] |
| Steam authentication failed | Record the exact text and whether ordinary account sign-in also fails. Keep authentication separate from a missing reward popup. | A 14 October reply still reported failure after a password-change suggestion.[1] |
| Password-reset code never arrives | Check the destination address and spam folder. If it still does not arrive, report that recovery itself is blocked. | TURBO reported no reset code, including in spam, on 14 October.[1] |
Check the account before changing anything
- Identify the profile you want. Note its in-game name/ID, platform and whether it has existing progress. Keep this separate from a newly attempted account.
- Use recovery only for your own existing account. If you can access the account-recovery option, request a password reset and try signing in again. KingDreamy said a password change worked for them; they did not establish why it worked.[1]
- If the email was never registered, keep that distinction. Tell support “new registration rejected” rather than presenting the problem as a forgotten password. The second thread reports precisely this mismatch.[2]
- If you can sign in but cannot find a Steam link or gift, use the Steam account-link and reward branches. That guide does not resolve authentication failures.
What has actually worked?
KingDreamy reported password-change success; a different participant still reported authentication failure.[1] We cannot compare their underlying account states or establish that they followed the same steps. Keep your own result specific: “password changed, email login works, Steam login fails” is more informative than a blanket “fixed.”
In the separate 14 October thread, restarting Steam and verifying game files had already been tried without resolving the original poster’s problem. Repeating those actions indefinitely is not an evidence-backed account fix.[2]
Send a useful support report
If recovery is blocked or a new email is rejected, contact Steam Support — CPM 2 product help ↗ (external site, opens in a new tab). It lists the game support email [email protected].[3] Include platform, game version, exact error, sign-in method, approximate time and what happened after each check. Never send a password or verification code.
Does “email taken” mean my progress is lost?
The reports do not establish that. Preserve the profile details you already have; we have no evidence that deleting an account is a solution.
Will a password change definitely fix Steam login?
No. It is a single player’s reported result, with continuing failures elsewhere in the same discussion.
Is a missing Lancia popup the same error?
No. If you are already signed in, investigate reward eligibility and linking separately.
