Checked 16 October 2026. The menu and numeric example below come from cpm2.site’s 11 October screenshot-based account of DRIVE & TONE’s Golf MK2 build. We read that account, not the underlying video; this is a single secondary source and has not been tested by us.[1] It is not a complete R35 or Golf drag build.
Identify the CPM 2 gearbox before copying a tune
In the reported Car Tuning interface, Gearbox opens the transmission, clutch and front/rear LSD slots; Gearbox Configuration opens ratio controls. Check the fitted box’s gear count and the compatible parts shown for your car.[1]
A player asking about an R35’s 4WD drag tune received mxp_cpm’s suggestion of a 42RLE for 4WD and a 4ZHP22 for RWD in March. That is advice for a particular discussion, not evidence that either part fits every car or is currently fastest.[2] Do not replace compatibility checks with a name from a forum post.
Reported 42RLE limits: a concrete example
| Setting | Stock | Minimum | Maximum |
|---|---|---|---|
| First gear | 2.840 | 2.556 | 3.124 |
| Final drive | 4.100 | 3.485 | 4.715 |
The source’s 42RLE panel gives these values.[1] Arithmetic puts first gear at ±10% and final drive at ±15% of stock in this example. Those percentages are not verified as universal rules for every transmission. Use your current panel’s numbers if they differ.
Check a desired ratio against your own range
Enter the minimum and maximum shown for one setting, then the ratio you want. For final drive, replace both bounds with the final-drive bounds. The checker evaluates numbers only; it does not recommend a race setup or change the game.
Change one setting and compare the result
Our suggested test sheet is: car, engine, gearbox name, tyres, current ratio, proposed ratio, route and result. Record the original values before adjusting anything. Use the same route and other parts for a comparison; otherwise you cannot tell which change helped.
For example, a desired first ratio of 1.15 is below the reported 42RLE minimum of 2.556. The useful conclusion is “this number does not fit this example,” not “the car needs maximum power.” If your own panel allows 1.15, enter its actual bounds into the checker.
Buying parts, comparing drag times and selecting a final tune are separate decisions. This page supplies a menu path, a bounded example and an arithmetic check; it does not invent a universal seven-gear chart.
Why can’t I enter a ratio from a video?
First compare the video’s fitted gearbox with your own and inspect your slider bounds. The number may belong to a different box.
Does “inside range” mean the tune is fast?
No. It means the number is between the limits you entered. It says nothing about grip, torque, shifting or race time.
Does the checker save or upload my inputs?
No. It runs locally in your browser without storing or sending the values.

March 2026 (post indexed 8 March); iDoGoodThingsMaybe asks about R35 4WD drag, mxp_cpm suggests gearbox names. Advice is not compatibility or fastest-build verification.
